IS FRUIT JUICE A HEALTHY CHOICE?

For decades fruit juice has been considered a healthy option to consume along breakfast or in between meals. Despite the fact that juice provide us with vitamins & minerals and marketed under healthy, nutritious, dairy free products. Still fruit is not same as whole fruits.


Here are few reasons you should choose whole fruit over fruit juice


* FIBRE CONTENT

There is very little or no fiber in fruit juices whereas whole fruits fall on list of high fiber food content.


* HIGH CALORIES

Fruit juices are concentrated source of sugars and has more calories. In few researches it has been linked with higher risk of type 2 Diabetes.


* WEIGHT GAIN

due to high calories content and lower fiber content it does not makes you feel much fuller leading to over consumption which increases calorie intake which can leads to weight gain in longer period of time.


*NUTRIENT LOSS

A lot of nutrients are present in peel of fruit and are bound to fiber content which are lost during juicing, so if you are picky eaters or don't like fruit try to blend fruit and avoid straining instead of juicing.


* STRICT NO FOR DIABETIC PATIENTS

As fruit juices are concentrated sugar it can leads to spike in blood sugar levels, so should not be served in any form to diabetic patients.

Fruit juice is ok to have occasionally but try to have whole fruits.
